Need a getaway from a crazy Cleveland weather day?

While away time at the Cleveland Artist Foundation for an exhibit of August Biehle featuring works from his period in Zoar, Ohio.  You may be fortunate enough, as I was today, to engage in great conversation with major area art collectors.

The Donegal Doggs are Jenny O'Boyle, Paul Kirk Jr., and Vincent Polowy.
If you missed them at the Flat Iron, make an effort to get out and prime yourself for St. Paddy's Day.  They definitely warm the cockles! Great pub fare, too.

How is it that the NEORSD or any public entity can "write off" bad debt?

I live very close to Brookside Park, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park--I can walk to all of  these great public amenities, which in my mind, makes my neighborhood an appealing and liveable place.

Mortgage Fraud--two of the largest players were indicted yesterday and the story was relegated to a back page and players get a slap on the wrist:

"The magnitude of this crime is hard to fathom," Mason said. "A total of 453 homes, 358 of which fell into disclosure, were part of a master scheme to bilk the banking and real estate industries out of funds."

Logan's Run

Submitted by lmcshane on Thu, 12/15/2011 - 22:33.

Growing up, of movies that stuck in my conscience, besides Planet of the Apes and Omega Man, Logan's Run stood out.  Lately, I am revisiting the message of that sci-fi movie as I see worthy and intelligent "senior" members of our community...discarded by the workforce.

Why do we insist on decommissioning the most experienced and valuable members of our society?

Progressive or Regressive Energy Solutions?

Submitted by lmcshane on Tue, 11/01/2011 - 09:14.

Across Ohio--cities are looking at progressive ways to produce sustainable energy.  Zoos are at the forefront of this trend, most likely,  because they are in the business of saving species from extinction.

The Cincinatti Zoo has the largest publicly accessible solar array in Ohio.  Columbus and Akron will be following soon.
