Submitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 05/09/2012 - 15:02.

REALNEO - the name of this web site - is an acronym for Regional Economic Action Links North East Ohio.

When Realneo was started by Norm Roulet in 2004 - one of the purposes of Realneo was to function as an open source  network/catalyst for civic and private innovation and economic development by facilitating effective communication and searchability via the world wide web.

Twitter challenges court - withholds NYC Occupy user's account records - Occupy is making a dent with BankOfAmerica

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 05/09/2012 - 09:17.

Use of the internet leaves a perfect record - for Google, for Facebook, for corporations who buy the tracking information from Google and Facebook, and for the authorities if they can get it.   Here is a link to BBC News which discusses the Court demand for Twitter data.

WHAT IF NEIGHBORHOODS WERE DESIGNED FOR KIDS (NOT CARS)?

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 05/07/2012 - 18:11.

This afternoon it was sunny out and I was up working on the roof where I could see the kids next door  bouncing a basketball in their driveway.    I also could see and hear - on the next street over - other kids playing basketball in their quiet residential street.   Both sets of kids could have had a pick up game if they just could get to one another conveniently and safely - through the middle of the block.

Why does OUR Government have a sting/entrapment operation on Occupy in Public Square?

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 05/01/2012 - 11:01.

Image: Toledo Blade

Why is it that of all the Occupy camps across the USA, the FBI took up a "successful" sting/entrapment operation in Public Square?   Could it be true that there is a more active wanna-be "anarchist" spirit here in Cleveland than, say, in Oakland, CA?    Just curious of the instigating circumstances which led the FBI to become involved....

washingtonia robusta "fan" palm vertical silhouette

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 04/28/2012 - 13:38.

For a new vocabulary word how's "corruscading" -

I learned the word when I saw the palm frawns oscillating rapidly back and forth in the wind making the sunlight flash brightly off the waxy surface of the frawn with each oscillation.

How to discribe that bright flashing?

"Corruscading" light - I was told.

Cool, a new word...

I had the lucky opportunity a few weeks ago to visit a navel orange grading and packing plant that was built from scratch by 3 brothers and their parents.   The experience was exhilarating - so much creativity and ingenuity on display.

California area citrus is one of the few global citrus growing regions which has not yet been infected with Huanglongbing disease.    (link to wikipedia)

The sticky surfaced yellow card (image above) is hung on citrus trees across Southern California - hoping to collect the vector insect - and be an early warning system for the disease.

New Age Lifestyle - homeless with shopping cart - police on their way - everything's fine

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 04/13/2012 - 17:54.

homeless man with shopping cart at McDonalds This fellow was sitting in the parking lot of a McDonald's outlet (not in Ohio).

It appeared he had had a few (too many in life too) but wasn't being more than a visual discomfort - if you find reality discomforting.

By this point the fellow had attempted to get up, was too drunk, and pulled his cart over on himself.

He lay spralled on the asphalt.

Trayvon Martin - candle flickering in a young black man's hand . on a street corner in Woodmere, Ohio

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 03/24/2012 - 20:15.

Doing my Saturday night rounds, I come to the stop light where I want to take a right turn - and very faintly on the sidewalk I think I see what I think is a votive candle flickering - I look up and it's in the quiet hands of a young black man.

BIG MESSAGE HERE, I immediately realize.

Then everyone in the car says: It's got to be for Trayvon!

Wow!

Beautiful!

To Serve and Protect or Punish for Profit? Police "Public Safety" hypocrisy

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 03/23/2012 - 21:13.
Police and Public Safety Hypocrisy

Awhile back when I was in Toronto. Ontario Canada I was ticketed in a traffic sting.

In the heart of downtown Toronto during evening rush hour, right turns are prohibited at certain intersections because there are so many pedestrians that right turners waiting for the pedestrians to clear, effectively block forward motion in the right hand lane.

Here is where public safety hypocrisy and profit enter into the equation.

Trayvon Martin - Right to Assemble & Petition - Tallahassee says Constitution requires INSURANCE! Very clever

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 03/23/2012 - 13:59.

Why didn't I think of this?   A local ordinance that requires a million dollar commercial insurance policy in order to have a public assembly or public march?   Why not a 10 million dollar policy limit if the march is really controversial?

Rail Road Engineering - spectacular travel in Canada

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 03/09/2012 - 21:35.

Rail Road engineering is some of the finest engineering.   The trains have to keep on schedule, and the tracks have to be always passable.

In the image above, avalanche/dry landslide sheds deflect rock over the tracks on the Canadian National east of Vancouver, Canada.  The telephone poles near the sheds have wires which trip an alarm if a rock hits the wire.

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 02/29/2012 - 21:26.

When we are young (and even when we are old) we are all mixed up.   In our youth (or adult-hood) we may be in conflict about our sexuality, and in our maturity (or youth) we may be in conflict about the merits of our political system.

But at whatever age we are, we don't need anyone filming and streaming our bedroom on line.

That's out. Way out. SICK.
