Tips for enjoying the 33rd Cleveland International Film Festival March 19-29, Tower City Cinemas

Submitted by Evelyn Kiefer on Mon, 03/16/2009 - 00:38.

Once a year, during the brief run of the Cleveland International Film Festival, Cleveland feels like one of the great cities of the world. For a little more than a week the grand space of Tower City is filled with life; diverse crowds of art lovers flow in and out, steadily buzzing with excitement for what they are experiencing. Because it only happens once a year, it is easy to overlook The Cleveland International Film Festival as one of Cleveland's greatest assets.

How Does Your Garden Grow Neo?

Submitted by Evelyn Kiefer on Sat, 03/07/2009 - 00:20.

Only a few more weeks until spring planting! I have been working on a planting list over the last few days. The following is what I plan to grow on my urban farm this year. I have grown nearly everything on the list before, but most will be new to my farm in East Cleveland. As you can see from the list, some of the plants will probably not produce this year or they will mature in the coming years, but this is my investment in my home and my city.

Some tax advice from an art historian -- Don't waste your time and money on Turbo Tax

Submitted by Evelyn Kiefer on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 15:53.

I prefer to write about the arts, but my experience the other night has me inspired to blog about online tax programs.

This year I decided to try Turbo Tax for my Federal and State tax returns -- it was such a waste of time. I ended up starting over and filing with Free Tax USA.

The MedCon Plan and Planners were a Disgrace, the Process was Broken... what if anything has changed?

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 02/16/2009 - 18:26.

The last time I saw “Citizen” Ed Hauser alive was at the October 8, 2008, Cuyahoga County Commissioners' public hearing on the proposed Medical Mart and Convention Center, aka MedCon.

Ed was as furious as I can ever remember seeing him, as he shouted "the process is broken".

Ed was so right.
