Welcome Bill Botkin from Today's Business Products... Now, About Our Brightest Greenest Discount?!

Today's Business Products Internet Lounge

Welcome to REALNEO, new REAL COOP member and recent Cleveland transplant Bill Botkin. Thanks for joining our real NEO community.

Bill's REALNEO member bio reads: "I am a transplant from Columbus as of 2 years ago. My career has spanned 20 years in the copier/mfp industry and I recently made the change to the Office Supply/Furniture Industry where I discovered Sustainability. I am looking to become more involved in the Cleveland area." Bill came to the right place!

Because Bill filled out his REALNEO user profile with useful information about himself and his employer, I found reasons to learn more about Bill and spent some time visiting his employer's website - Today's Business Products - where Bill "discovered Sustainability"... and Today's Business Products seems to have a good interest in sustainability - they list many "green products".

Signs of Life

Submitted by lmcshane on Fri, 10/02/2009 - 18:12.

Friday is a great day of the week.  There is a promise of relaxation and some time to reflect on the past and the future.  After dental work today, I was transferring buses at the Westside Market and found a hopeful sign of life in Cleveland--a tourist!  A young, leatherclad uber-chic, Dutch?/German? lad on bicycle and in search of a Library!

Social Media – Risks and Rewards, even for the Military

Submitted by Kevin Cronin on Tue, 08/04/2009 - 13:22.

The US Marine Corps decision to ban social media, citing concerns for operation and mission security, is an issue every employer wrestles with, but banning social media is on excessive response, one that forfeits important value for social media, including military recruiting.  Employers, military or otherwise, should develop fine-tuned policies on social media, not comprehensive bans or unqualified endorsements.

Cyberterrorism, Cyberstalking, Cyberharassment, Cyberbullying and Blackheart Cleveland

I believe the actions of "Blackheart Cleveland" as an association and some "members" individually consititute some variation of Cyberterrorism, Cyberstalking, Cyberharassment, and/or Cyberbullying. It appears Blackheart Cleveland exists to disrupt the business of REAL COOP and attack REALNEO members personally, to cause personal and financial harm to members. I believe this is illegal.

Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe

Max Eternity - At the completion of exhaustive research by some of the worlds leading engineers, physicists, architects and collegiate educators, a new scholarly paper has been published.  The document demonstrates conclusively that tons of pre-planted explosives, using  a highly specialized incendiary known as nano-thermite, is responsible for the controlled demolition collapse of World Trade Center towers one, two and seven.

Will Allen's "A Good Food Manifesto for America"

Thanks to Laura McShane for posting this morning a comment linking to Will Allen's "Good Food Manifesto" on his Growing Power blog. I, and millions of other people, became aware of Will last Sunday, when he was featured in the New York Times Sunday Magazine article "Street Fighter", but folks who follow local foods best practices surely knew of Will long before.

Welcome to Real NEO; Open Source Capital of the Brightest Greenest State of Earth

Smartest Greenest Breuer

Over the past 20 years, I've spent most of my "professional" time as an entrepreneur, with world-class expertise conducting multi-dimensional, multi-client relational comparative data and best practice analyses of any aspects of the world's largest and best global enterprises, environments and systems, and developing and consulting on innovations and total quality improvement. This work has generated a wealth of knowledge on large general systems, with a unique expertise in information systems and telecommunications. REALNEO is a product of this highest level expertise, drawn from the best practices of the best organizations on Earth. What REALNEO has developed for Cuyahoga County - what has been generated out of the REALNEO-generated Real Cooperative - takes general systems innovation to a whole new level of making us the brightest greenest place on Earth. So, we really do have a purpose to Cuyahoga County owning the Breuer, and the vision is beautifully expressed in this great rendering above, to be REAL COOP citizen headquarters of the open source capital of this brightest greenest state of Earth.

The Cleveland Social Media Experiment

Submitted by Charles Frost on Mon, 12/29/2008 - 22:31.

The Cleveland Social Media Experiment

As the days wane on 2008, it is becoming ever more evident that Cleveland and its civic leadership must work with fervor to develop new business and industry. I am constantly reminded of Cleveland’s strong lineage of disregarded life altering opportunities to; instead, stay on the tried and true. Have you ever heard the stories of Cleveland donning serious consideration for NASA’s Mission Control headquarters? Can you imagine the radical change to the NASA campus and its influence on Cleveland if it were to have a mission control here? This could have happened. I suspect you are all aware of Progressive Insurance wanting to build an “eye-opening” corporate headquarters in Downtown Cleveland, only to have the civic leaders in Cleveland politely say, “No thank you.” Shameful.

IT Help

Submitted by DesireeSchmitt on Sat, 12/27/2008 - 10:52.

I need some I/T help.  Yes, I know I posted that I used to be in I/T, but I had such a bad experience with local government that I walked away.  And left all my geek skills behind me.

So, I'm in dire need of help.  I have a computer at the shop that needs more memory... in a bad, urgent way.

I also have a laptop that's MS Registry is bad.  I need to save my data and have the instructions to do so, it's just over my head these days and I have a million other things to do...

As 32 Cuyahoga County mayors endorse Peter Lawson Jones for commissioner, PD Plays Race Card

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Tue, 10/21/2008 - 07:21.

I've been waiting to see how the Cleveland Plain Dealer is going to attempt to escape the shame of having endorsed for Cuyahoga County commissioner the highly unqualified and now under fire Bay Village mayor Debbie Sutherland, before she even debated the highly qualified and well respected incumbent, Peter Lawson Jones. Sutherland lost her first debate... and she lost her second debate... and, I understand, she lost four debates against Jones organized by the League of Women Voters for high school children... and she will lose the City Club debate (for Sutherland, losing has meant being obviously unprepared, unqualified, flustered, angry, embarrassed and even booed, in past cases). There was no excuse for the PD endorsing Sutherland, and now they must report 32 Cuyahoga County mayors endorse Peter Lawson Jones for commissioner. The PD editors are surely embarrassed over Sutherland, by now, so they are certainly looking for excuses, including attempting to make the race about race. I expect we'll see lots of this racist behavior in the coming months, years, and decades, in various death spirals, as the last generations of real American racists die away.

30 Chambers of Commerce Adopt High-Skill Immigration Reform Proposal Created in Cleveland

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Thu, 10/16/2008 - 17:35.

I received the following from NEO's champion of immigration reform, Richard Herman, which sounds exciting. I am certainly for opening up national borders - I think any of us should be able to go and live wherever we want, whenever we want. I haven't read the policy recommendations, beyond what Richard provided, and I'm not sure a merit based point system and ""High-Skill" focus are right, but anything that opens up borders, rather than building walls, is a good thing.

Tech Superstars Hit the Road for Obama

Submitted by Kevin Cronin on Sat, 10/11/2008 - 00:02.

There's something about tech entrepreneurs talking to superstar tech entrepreneurs that is, as Sarah Palin might say, "so gosh, darn excitin'." While I could have done without people getting so braggy about Columbus and a booming tech industry, but I was excited to meet some tech superstars, who hit the road on behalf of Barack Obamma's presidential campaign at an event called 2.Ohio.
