Seems government is where Ohio needs some winners in 2010... time to shift focus from b-ball to the Washington Mall...Submitted by Norm Roulet on Tue, 05/18/2010 - 19:46.
I'm not a party politics guy, but I sure supported Obama from the first day I saw what he offered the world - and I well remember the awe of the moment I knew Obama was President. While I'm sure I could do much better, and so could you, I think he is doing an excellent job overall, and I am certain we want to stay the course with him and leaders who share his vision, through this administration and another - he is turning around a leaky rusting out of control supertanker here, hoping to get our economy back to safe harbour before we have another deepwater experience.... and this supertanker US Enterprise is running on empty. To help the nation get and stay on course for the future, in the Blue state of Ohio, the Democratic party must be effective, and that means citizens need to get involved helping good candidates succeed... at least getting candidates engaged about what citizens believe and want from their leaders. That's one thing I feel realNEO enables well, and I know our core members make a point to get active in support for good in politics, to the core. Below is a message from Governor Strickland asking everyone to volunteer to " Fight for Ohio’s Future", and I look forward to dialog here on the candidates in the upcoming elections - there are certainly some big races being decided in November... best not sit this one out as a passive spectator in 2010, to find yourself a helpless victim in 2011!

I got chills today, scanning ongoing coverage of Cleveland City Hall's plans to lock citizens and their children here into a 10 year sole-source LED lighting contract with Sunpu Opto, of China - Cleveland council committee embraces LED lighting deal - when I made the interpretation my instincts about Sunpu Opto are the same as Councilman Polensek's... which means my instincts may be wrong, as how could he be right? Polensek's take on the Sunpu Opto deal:

If you want to feel your heart sink, watch the Deepwater oil flow and think of the Real Keys to America's FutureSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 05/17/2010 - 22:20.
If you want to feel your heart sink in your chest, consider the forecast above shows the Deepwater oil flow is expected to round Cuba and the tip of Florida and head north into the Atlantic, within a week or so, and think of the Keys to the Future. The current progress of the flow of oil from the Deepwater drilling disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is following the forecast worst case expectations - and the amount of oil being spilled seems to be at the worst case level - and the efforts to stop the leak are nearly at worst case conditions... changing daily. This means Florida is in deep trouble, and oil will be flowing up the Eastern Atlantic coast next week.
Remarks of President Barack Obama--As Prepared for Delivery at Hampton University CommencementSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Sun, 05/16/2010 - 22:16.
Remarks of President Barack Obama--As Prepared for Delivery Good morning, Happy Mother's Day to all the moms here today, and thank you for inviting me to share this special occasion with the Hampton community. Before we get started, I just want to say, I'm excited the Battle of the Real H.U. will be taking place in Washington this year. You all know I'm not going to pick sides. But it's been, what, 13 years since the Pirates lost. As one Hampton alum on my staff put it, the last time Howard beat Hampton, The Fugees were still together.

Today I walked through one of the most exciting plants in the Collinwood community. and I learned that this plant is for health, and I saw some of the most interesting things. And seeing the product that this company produce is incredible. This company is producing something that is good for us all, and also trying to create jobs for the community, and as needed how cool is that.

February 3, 2010
A group of clean energy activists braved the cold rain Tuesday to hear a leading climatologist make his case against coal. Speaking in front of UNC’s Cogeneration Facility, a power plant a half-mile from campus that burns coal and natural gas, Columbia University professor James Hansen challenged all universities to eliminate coal use and push for clean energy.

Madam Chair and Members of the Committee: Thank you for the opportunity to discuss the employment and unemployment data we released this morning. Nonfarm payroll employment rose by 290,000 in April. The unemployment rate edged up to 9.9 percent, and the labor force increased sharply. Job growth was fairly widespread, with gains in manufacturing, professional and business services, health care, and leisure and hospitality. Federal government employment increased, with the addition of 66,000 short-term workers for Census 2010. Nonfarm employment has risen by 573,000 since December, with 483,000 jobs added in the private sector.

EPA regulatory proposals that address emissions from boilers, process heaters, and certain solid waste incineratorsSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 05/03/2010 - 14:02.
On April 29, 2010, EPA proposed a set of regulatory proposals under the Clean Air Act that address emissions from boilers, process heaters, and certain solid waste incinerators. These rules would significantly cut emissions of pollutants that are of particular concern for children. Mercury and lead can cause adverse affects on children's developing brains -- including effects on IQ, learning, and memory. The rules would also reduce emissions of other pollutants including cadmium, dioxin, furans, formaldehyde and hydrochloric acid. These pollutants can cause cancer or other adverse health effects in adults and children. Together, these rules would cut mercury and other air toxics emissions from nearly 200,000 units across the U.S.

"I have run a campaign consistent with Democratic values of being honest with voters... I am here for you."Submitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 05/03/2010 - 11:43.
In the past 24 days The Courage Express, a converted school bus bought on eBay from Southwest Licking Schools, has taken me to 96 stops in 43 cities, traveling over 6,000 miles. I have helped fill potholes in a Tuscarawas County township with one paved road, been welcomed into the home of Somali immigrants in Columbus, played "corn hole" on Fountain Square in Cincinnati, worshipped with congregations in Akron, Columbus, Cleveland and Youngstown, met with health care advocates in Xenia and students in Toledo and spoken to crowded rooms from Athens to Bowling Green to Lorain to Brecksville. I know that this is the real Ohio. I know that when I meet people face-to-face, they can really judge for themselves what they want in a leader--and I can learn firsthand what they need. I've tried to set the tone in this campaign that we are one Democratic family, because it is in unity that Democrats will prevail in November.

Vote for Issue 15 and the future of this great region - vote for the heart of it allSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 05/03/2010 - 05:00.
Over the next 8 months, Cuyahoga County must remake itself, in designing and preparation for an entirely new government - that is a challenge of epic proportions under the best of circumstances, and this is happening under the worst of circumstances for nearly all in Cuyahoga County. While our nation may be rising out of recession, parts of Cuyahoga County reside in states of true economic depression.
Steps for Places of Assembly to take to become legally compliantSubmitted by Henry Senyak on Sun, 05/02/2010 - 01:25.
The procedure in becoming legal.
This is a multiple faceted problem. I am sure they do not even have a Certificate of Occupancy for a assembly use. Which means even before any licensing style permits can be issued the operator must go down to City Hall to the Building and Housing Records Room. This may even require the owner of the building to be involved.
1) First find out the last legal use on the suite the operation is located.
Rafael Viñoly Flowers For Real, as Cleveland Museum of Art Expansion Really BloomsSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Sat, 05/01/2010 - 16:02.
I was driving through one of my favorite neighborhoods in the world yesterday and noticed a rare and important thing has taken bloom there - in University Circle - this Spring - Phase II of the Cleveland Museum of Art expansion is already visible and suddenly the seemingly-boxy, incomplete Rafael Viñoly transition has taken new bloom - and a roof. Just some I-beams so far... ?!?! Not at all.

Make sense of what just doesn't make sense, by doing things like growing GRASS...Submitted by Norm Roulet on Sat, 05/01/2010 - 15:05.
ICEarth Bigbang computers, our Linux distro, and our optimal open source data and application configurations are designed to handle the most processor (CPU and GPU), memory and transaction intensive challenges in the world, to save Earth. Doing that requires an integration of our regional and global geographic information systems with layers of valuable insight not yet integrated, like environmental, atmospheric and topographic data, to drive analyses of life impacting factors in our neighborhoods like environmental fallout from all sources of pollution, to the home and child, for free to them. A good explanation of the type of data and analyses included in such capabilities is described below, helping you make sense of what just doesn't make sense, by doing things like growing GRASS...
