Reality

Submitted by lmcshane on Fri, 01/23/2009 - 09:39.

Recently, a woman was abducted by car, and raped at Crocker Park in Westlake. Crocker Park is owned by Stark Enterprises.  The Plain Dealer was careful to not identify the location as Crocker Park, but instead lists it as the Promenade. Interesting description of the suspect, too. The police sketch is ambiguous to me.

Gravy Train...All Aboard!

Submitted by lmcshane on Mon, 01/19/2009 - 11:40.

If you have lived in NEO for any length of time, it becomes apparent that some people have tickets and some do not. How does one get aboard the gravy train??? For more information--see this tip-off from Michael McIntyre at the PD.

Mystery artist ID?

Submitted by lmcshane on Mon, 01/12/2009 - 22:53.

Can you name the artist of this piece? How does sculpture affect your psyche? Today, I had to remember this piece to ground my troubled mind.

Neverland

Submitted by lmcshane on Sun, 01/04/2009 - 09:23.

Congratulations Mr. Feagler on your retirement. You may not remember me, the sullen teen dragged along by her father at Higbee's at the Westgate Mall and Rustic's, but I grew up with you, and to me, you finally get to realize my father's dream of Neverland.

Save our City

Cleveland is New Orleans, where the foreclosure crisis, like Katrina, is just a perfect storm for corporate greed and local corruption run amok.

La Strada

Submitted by lmcshane on Mon, 12/22/2008 - 10:53.

Life is just one long road and the trip can be painful and it can be beautiful. Yes--deep, deep (possibly creepy) thoughts, but the experience at La Strada, the new restaurant, is not sad, or painful--just beautiful.

Arts and Crafts Movement

Submitted by lmcshane on Mon, 12/15/2008 - 06:51.

In the images of Frank Giglio's home, I saw a house that had been built with some of the tenets of the Arts and Crafts movement. Sadly, we have no appreciation for fine construction and buildings built to last. I google mapped Frank's house and realize now that Google has provided another way to capture the essence of an area: http://www.panoramio.com/

Flag half mast and tatteredMuch has been written about the long-standing battle "fought" by our "heroic" safety forces and the oppression they "endure," while their families "suffer" the indignity of having to actually "live" in the city that pays their wages.

World versus Frank

Apparently, Frank Giglio's house in Tremont was demolished today. So much for sharing and caring and community and holiday spirit in NEO.

Appreciate the Magic

Cranbrook is a magical place.* For the privileged, it is childhood suspended in time with whimsical design and enchanted sculptural gardens and everywhere flowing water.

Swimmy and self-interest

In college, I studied biology and found myself puzzled by altruism. Why do some animals/people act selflessly in society? Of course, biology's answer puts a genetic spin on it--altruism benefits the species, right?

Sightseeing in Cleveland

Yesterday, I tried to turn off my thoughts and just LOOK at things. Here are some photos from my sight-seeing tour of Cleveland--specifically in University Circle and downtown.

America elects a First Father

Submitted by lmcshane on Wed, 11/05/2008 - 08:41.

Last night, I cried and it was a good cry. With the election of Barack Obama, America elected it's first real Father. The other firsts are so important, but to me, the real breakthrough was a country embracing two people, who love each other, and above all, love their daughters and every child in America. We have cause for celebration, but we also must realize that we, as a nation, have to start understanding the role of fathers and mothers in society.
