Toward Transparency : Sharing Digital Divide Technology Thoughts and Plans

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Wed, 08/15/2007 - 14:37.

Thought I'd think out loud some more as I start to design outreach, configuration, and training plans along the lines of our East Cleveland Digital Divide efforts. Transparency, Authenticity, and Accountability are such key principles - let's see if we can demonstrate these as I reason through recent strategic planning efforts...

Revisiting an old concept - adding a mushroom module to the Sustainable Living Machine

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Mon, 08/13/2007 - 16:26.

Having discussed the modification of classic aquaculture systems to be truly integrative in production of terrific tilapia, vitrious veggies, and cultivated compost I feel like there is no time better to integrate our toxic toxin mediating and mitigating mushroom strategy.

Getting back to basics: Sustainability can be about the little things too

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Thu, 08/09/2007 - 10:58.

Having recently completed a survey of the latest and greatest developments in sustainability, which included a review of current legislature in Congress to effect policy thereto, I can't help but think how much in life is about the simple things.  The tried and true maxim ' Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' embraces so much of what we need in terms of behavior shifts that would maximize metrics and optimize outcomes.

East Cleveland Town Hall Polarizes Masses Toward Positive Community Change

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Tue, 07/31/2007 - 11:41.

An invigorating, purposeful, passionate discourse and dialogue focused and facilitated by East Cleveland Councilwoman and Champion Barbara Thomas transpired this past Monday.   The meeting was convened at Apethrope Apartments, just one block from the Superior rapid station and was attended by several local dignitaries, including local pastors, former mayor Saratha Goggins, Cuyahoga County's Board of Health's Annie Stahlheber and several members of police and sheriff's departments (Officers Michael Jackson, Lieutenant McKloskey, and  Officer Stanton respectively). Of course RealNEO represented well, with Norm Roulet presenting our transformative vision for a new East Cleveland via revitalization and transmutation of the Hough Bakery Building – now renamed the Star Complex – near Lakeview and Euclid.  I was able to announce administration of a revamp of a computer donation, collection, and distribution program REALNEO stars envisioned prior to site inception and orchestrated last year.

Post-Ingenuity Party : Reflections Reconstituted

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Mon, 07/23/2007 - 11:28.

If the world hasn't caught on yet, some of the ideas I presented this weekend as exhibitor during the Ingenuity Festival held here in Downtown Cleveland have caught the distinct attention of our Pope and President, among others.. and though Mr. Bush is now under the duress-caress of a legitimate censure threat he, like so many others has to know a great thing when he sees it.  Who doesn't ?  The key now is to work collaboratively and cross-sectionally to manifest those ideations and innovations particularly and proactively preventative of Biblically-briefed, Catastrophe-causing and Armageddon-averting measures so we can assure a sustainable future for us all.  It is my belief we have five years until a pivotal time in history, and this is indeed a Messianic age - one which is facilitated by what spiritualist Eckhart Tolle and so many others refer to as the frequency holders (Findhorn Retreat)..   So perhaps polytheism returns, and we will all be gods ?   .   And as I jest, in part,  I am simultaneously serious - this isn't enigmatically expansive, or bucolic bipolar banter but rather real and rugged rapture we're talking about!

Introduction :  Ingenuity Fest 2007 :  A Sustainable Future

Here is a refined draft for the A Sustainable Future exhibit to be curated by yours truly at the Nance School of Business July 19-22 along with the other Technology hubs.  Sustainability will be the 'glue that binds' in many respects, the various other hubs encompassing the wide array of technologies - from Fuel Cells to Nanotechnology to advanced Bioscience. It is only fitting that Technology be given such prominence this year at the Festival of ART and TECHNOLOGY and the timing is perfect for this to be the true coming out party for an epic festival !

Six Simple Sentences to Save the World : Cryptic Cryptographers and Codebreakers Creatively Collaborate and Cohesively Coalesce!

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Thu, 04/05/2007 - 18:27.

Many of the world's brightest cryptographers are codebreaking as we speak, in dark labs all over.  The DaVinci Code is the perplexing puzzle puzzling people like the Pope.  I have some hardcore thoughts around which we All need to postulate and ponder.  World's intellectuals Unite!

My idea to Crack that Code is to simply state the following Six Sentences.  Listen up Y'all!

Expanding 3D growth theory: Perforated Pipe Theory (PPT)

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Sat, 03/24/2007 - 22:37.

Some much anticipated R&R in beautiful Cincinnati has helped my culture, cultivate, and cognitively create a theoretical evolution.  One of several growth mechanisms proposed as a key infrastructure component for Grow Coil Theory (GCT) is microperforation - penetrating piping with microsized miniature holes that allow high value growths 'root access'- this would apply beautifully as a stopgap or interim step in the channeling of human or animal waste to food streams (ethanol, compost, vermicompost).  Imagine, for example, each length of pipe or even coiled spiral being approximated by formula CL  = (2*Pi*radius*length) = acreage grown. IF the acreage grown refers to the inner surface area of any cylinder (or tube) - coiled or otherwise we could surmise that it would be slightly greater than equally possible to grow on the outer surface of any cylinder (or pipe), or coiled pipe for that matter.  So we refer to the 'Chia Pet' variation as a growth infrastructure and in this case it would apply beautifully to grow green growths on the OUTER surface of any cylinder.  In other words, we can grow on the inner surface of the cylinder and approximate THIS area as CL as well!  My previously posted concept, to channel human feces (resolving the fecal matter) to foodstuff (ethanol, compost, etc) takes on a more interesting connotation to consider - we can grow green growths on the OUTER surface by penetrating pipes with perforations just large enough to allow plant 'root access' and in the process, keep a flowing food source for shrubbery and shrooms alike.   again, this allows for oxygenation of sewage systems and helps us get to the ultimate goal of using sewage spaces more effectively and creating value in the process.

The Future of Sustainable Organization and Development : Ring Cone Theory and Grow Coil Theory Unite!

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Fri, 03/23/2007 - 17:49.

I thought I'd take this opportunity to tie together many of the theoretical pieces that I've developed and evolved over the years which just might comprise a holistic collection of synergistic sustainability submittals that comprise a body of work that could be considered contributive to the collective Whole.   They all fit together in a seamless way, without wayward explanation needed.  Ultimately these could be taken to begin to build a roadmap toward the ultimate vision - significant progress beyond the impending activation of the Genesis project, and the core change mechanisms and revenue driving efforts to drive it.  To put it simply, I hope the world's change leaders take these and implement them as they see fit for their particular sphere of influence.  If we take care to integrate structure, process and function meaningfully it should result in sustainable positive change.  Recent dialogues with AI/change leaders from Nepal and Zambia bode well for implementation potential.

An Appeal to Mayor Bloomberg - Green the NYC Subway!

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Tue, 03/20/2007 - 15:54.

Dear Mayor Bloomberg,

I appeal to you as an infrequent yet dedicated visitor to the Big Apple and consumer of your public transit system - specifically the NYC underground.  For far too long I've held my breath (and not in anticipation) down below in stuffy, stagnant, stifling, smelly subterranean scenarios.  We need to breathe freely and millions of devoted city minions use this transit mechanism regularly, to the point of pride in car-free living.  What kind of reward, we must ask, are we giving NYC natives and tourists alike?   I propose a phased-in greening of the subway - whether including hanging gadens for a new transit Babylon or installing 'vertical landscape (3D) public art murals comprised of oxygenating multi-colored greenness.   Fresh air for frustrated friends...

Watershed restoration reaches a critical stage

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Mon, 07/24/2006 - 23:05.

Putting the pieces together to form a comprehensive GIS map of our region is a formidable task but as i mentioned earlier - very possible with the proper resources, planning, collaboration, and expertise.  The open source proposals for East Cleveland will be exciting opportunities to do this innovatively on a smaller scale with cutting edge technology.  Demonstrating transformational outcomes delivered with a novel approach and toolset could open the eyes of many to the greater opportunities open source provides.

Initial thoughts : A great collaboration toward greening Ingenuity and raising eco-awareness

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Tue, 07/18/2006 - 23:07.

Just some overall comments on this past 'Greening Ingenuity' effort:

GREAT thanks go out to you, Zebra Mussel, for so much of the preparatory work, writeups, analysis, etc you played such a pivotal role with.  We must not forget the dialogue never even started until Mike Shafarenko brought the possibility of greening to our attention- Super thanks, Mike!.  Sheer economics (energy costs) made the initial outreach a reality... from there it was simply a matter of calling up and convening the true enviro-experts, those truly experienced with these processes and technologies - At my current level (an MBA from Case with a passion for sustainability) I am certainly not one nor have never claimed to be: I have only studied these processes and their importance at a very general level.  Yet I know there is no issue I have more passion for in my life than the enhancement of quality of life for every living creature on this planet.  We crazy humans, however, are exacerbating and accelerating our own extinction - yet paradoxically are the only ones with the creativity, potential and technology to reverse the problem and not only achieve sustainability but perhaps someday create a place infinitely more generative.

Housing Revitalization : A combination of approaches

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Fri, 06/30/2006 - 19:25.

Today's article in the PD distills the core revelations from the first in a series of City Club forum sessions on housing revitalization in Cleveland. Some of the important revelations included one by Thomas Bier of CSU's Levin school declaring that an influx of middle-class homeowners will be critical over the coming years to sustain the city tax base. Mitigating this has been an urban sprawl problem problem that has 1500 city housing units evacuated annually. "Cleveland's growth is crucial to Cuyahoga County", he said. Any regional approach, he added, should hinge on the city's development. Bier also stated that efforts to implement comprehensive housing strategy for the city would likely be undermined by the divisiveness characterized by the 21 city council members with ward-centric interests.

Let's Talk about Sustainability : Envision East Cleveland

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Tue, 03/28/2006 - 23:57.

I've thought for some time about the issues facing East Cleveland, and thought deeply about the potential we have to uplift an underprivileged community by applying a concerted eco-development strategy.  Here I outline some of my core thoughts as framed by our six-sphere model:

Cleveland recognized as world leader in 'intelligent communities'- among Top 7 in the World

Submitted by Sudhir Kade on Thu, 02/09/2006 - 12:20.

One Cleveland and Case Western, thanks to Lev Gonick, have really put the Cleveland community on the map as one of the world's top 'intelligent communities'.  This was, in large part due to excellence in defining IT infrastructure and strategic planning.   This is a significant follow up to Intel corporation's designation of Cleveland as one of its top three "worldwide digital communities," due in large part to the impact of OneCleveland.
