VOTERS IN WONDERLAND

How ridiculous can our County officials get?

The PD Tipoff column reports that 19 employees of the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court submitted travel vouchers individually for a trip with a total bill of $2,536.50.

Now there are two important factors to consider.

First, can we be sure that none of them carpooled? Did some carpool and still submit a voucher to be paid by Cuyahoga County taxpayers?

Secondly, someone with experience handling traveling by employees to meetings told me that POLICY dictates that when a number of staff members are going to the same meeting that they arrange to go, as much as possible,  together. It doesn’t take a management genius to figure that out. Just some mildly attentive administrator. Is there even one at 1219 Ontario?

Cuyahoga County, apparently managed by the worst administrators available, has not come to recognize such a policy after what has to be not years but decades of such travel requests.

What do you do with people such as this?

Well, first you have to blame the people at the top.

Who are they? Our totally negligent Commissioners - Jimmy Dimora, Tim Hagan and Peter Lawson Jones.

There’s not much you can do about it right now.

My suggestion: Don’t vote for any Commissioner or candidate for the office. Neither the incumbents nor the challengers differs that much to cause worry about a non-vote decision.

Maybe there would be some recognition of disfavor if the vote totals in November show a few thousand people sat out the races for Commissioner might send a tiny, small message.

Is it possible that the local netroots – is there such an article here - can exhibit some power by making this a Cuyahoga County bloggers campaign? Or do we just drift along until utter chaos overcomes us totally?

Where did they go?

Where did they go?

How do you suggest the web community may make a difference?

I'd say folks on realneo have been very outspoken about the performance of county leaders, and that makes a difference... and the PD is all over Jimmy these days, and he seems to have entered a cone of silence. What we are missing is a good candidate to support.
